After Daenerys Targaryen refused Cleon's repeated entreaties to join him in a war against Yunkai, the Butcher King marched his army—composed largely of newly trained Unsullied—south to confront the slaver cities. At the Horns of Hazzat, Cleon's forces met the Yunkish host, which had been reinforced by sellsword companies and legions from New Ghis. The battle was a rout. The Yunkai'i and their allies shattered the Astapori army, and Cleon himself was slain. Daenerys, who had hoped to avoid war with Yunkai, found herself facing a coalition that grew stronger with each passing day.
